Head Study 2/15

I feel I've had a breakthrough in painting the portrait. This one was especially rewarding, because I captured her essence, her attittude. Her direct gaze is a little intimidating and raw.
Again, a limited palette was used, and the darks are finally dark enough.

  1. Whatever you FEEL about this portrait is visible in your painting. It requires me to 'look back' at her.....because she is a living, breathing human being. I really like this one. The darks punctuate the rest of the painting. Maybe the almost misty area around the eyes makes me keep looking?

  2. Mary Jo, thank you for your comment. I really appreciate that you see more than a mere portrait.
