Only Room For One

The cherry tomato in the bowl feels safe and secure, while his friend on the table wants in. This small bowl is really a votive holder, but I love to use it for other things as I paint it. I like the thick glass and all the blues it creates, depending on the light.

Tomato Reflections in Amber

This little painting happened because I could not take my eyes off this beautiful amber bottle that a friend let me borrow. The tomato was the perfect partner to the bottle, and I like the reflection and distortion it caused. The leaf just added a complement to the warm colors.

I Wanna Be Like You

And so it begins - the parade of daily paintings. The handle of this little steel bowl seemed to develop a relationship with the cherry tomatoes. The open form composition and the bright spots of color, along with the loose brush strokes, make this little painting casual yet important.
