Christine 6-2

This portrait was done in a monthly model session at a local winery. Gayle Stratford is the facilitator. This is her daughter, Christine. I feel ok about it - but I was a little too caught up in her likeness when I should have been thinking shapes and values. My favorite part is the red dress - straight cad red lite.

These two little mugs look like models on the runway, posing in the light with their hands on their hips. You know, it's weird - when I finish a still life, it tells me what the title should be. On this one, I tried to change the title to something more academic, but the painting just wouldn't let me! I got these hand blown mugs at an antique store, and the red just grabbed me and I had to buy them.

1. This little coffee pot is flexing her "wings" and controlling her little pupils so as to tell them a story. Kinda far fetched? I don't know - it's what came to my mind as I finished painting it. She is just so intimidating! I found this little pot in Sisters, Oregon last summer. I loved the color and couldn't wait to paint it! About this painting - I had so much fun with the many reds in the pot, and I love the complementary green bits showing through from the ground.

Once again, another find in an antique co-op. I just couldn't take my eyes off this pitcher. The color is so beautiful - I knew I had to paint it! Many colors went into this. I like the subtle pear reflections in it, and the black accents.

I'm on Fire

The hot colors of the red hurricane and the orange slices seem to be on fire. The reflections and shadows can't deny the warmth. All colors are friends here.
